Two Custom 2.5 Ton Battery Mining Locomotives Shipped to an African Gold Mine
On September 7, 2026, HNYT completed container loading and dispatch of two customized 2.5 ton battery mining locomotives for a gold mine in Africa. The locomotives were supplied for rail haulage at the mine, with the track gauge made to match the customer’s existing railway. Each unit combines IGBT speed control with a 31.2 V, 315 Ah lithium battery and a customer-specified, semi-enclosed open cab. The specified haulage capacity is 20 tons.

Packing and Container Loading
The shipment photographs record the locomotives on workshop rails before loading, followed by protective wrapping and placement on the transport vehicle. The green and black bodies and open driver’s areas are visible in the workshop view, providing a clear record of the configuration prepared for this order.
For transport, the locomotive bodies were covered with stretch film, with additional wrapping visible around the seats and upper components. Both units were then photographed on the truck bed, supported on timber blocks. Wooden cases were also prepared in the workshop and loaded onto the vehicle; their exterior markings included handling and keep-dry instructions.

The container photographs show the wrapped locomotives positioned inside the freight container. A separate view shows wooden cases on pallet bases at the container entrance, restrained with crossed orange straps. Together, these images document the progression from workshop preparation and road transport loading to the containerized shipment for the African gold mine.

Configuration for the Customer’s Mine Railway
The custom track gauge directly addresses compatibility with the customer’s existing mine railway. The cab was also built to the customer’s requested semi-enclosed open layout, making both the running gear specification and the driver’s area part of the project configuration.
The 31.2 V, 315 Ah lithium battery has a specified full charging time of 3–4 hours, giving the mine a defined charging window to consider when planning its haulage schedule. IGBT control is the selected speed-control arrangement, while the stated 20-ton haulage capacity provides a reference for discussing the required train load. This shipment illustrates how a mine locomotive manufacturer can adapt a compact locomotive to the customer’s rail system and requested cab layout.
